A community bridges a funding gap for its outdoor school (Pendleton, Oregon, 2011-2012)
Done by our founder as a volunteer board member, before North Star Computing was founded.
When a Pendleton middle school's outdoor school program faced a funding gap, a volunteer fundraising committee formed to bridge it for one year. Our founder, a board member, set up the nonprofit's website and 501(c)(3) registration, so the community could give with confidence. The community got behind the effort, and the goal was exceeded. The extra proceeds went to the school to help fund the following year's program. The district publicly thanked the committee, writing that without its support, the program "would not have been successful." The program is still running today.
